Feeling overwhelmed by job hunting?
Applying for jobs, internships or graduate schemes can feel like a lot. The CV edits, cover letters, assessment centres, interview prep, unanswered applications, and the classic question of “am I doing this right?” 🥹 We get it!!!
Join us for a relaxed afternoon of job hunting chats, peer learning and freshly brewed kungfu tea, delivered as part of UCL 200 Career Supercharger in collaboration with UCL Tea Society.
What is this event?
This is not a formal careers talk or a scary networking event. Instead, it is a friendly, student-led space to talk honestly about applications, career questions and next steps with other students who may be figuring out the same things as you.
Choose your conversation table
You’ll be able to choose from 9 sector-based or theme-based tables:
Tech & Digital
Consulting & Business
Public Sector / Charity & Social Impact
PhD Job Searching & Career Options
Finding a Job Outside the UK
Entrepreneurship, Freelance & Content Creation
Media, Marketing, Journalism & Creative Industries
Other Sectors
Still Figuring It Out (for anyone whose current career plan is somewhere between “I have a spreadsheet” and “please do not ask me yet”)
Come with questions, or just come as you are
You are very welcome to come with your own questions, whether they are about CVs, cover letters, interviews, assessment centres, sector choices, career confidence, or anything you are currently unsure about. Prompts will also be provided to help guide the conversation if needed, so you do not need to arrive with a perfect question or a perfectly polished five-year plan.
Learn from other students
This is a space to learn from your peers, swap tips and tricks, compare notes, laugh a little, and realise you are definitely not the only one overthinking your applications. You might find out how other students are tracking applications, preparing for interviews, approaching networking, finding roles, dealing with rejections, or simply staying motivated through the job hunt.
It is not a formal careers advice appointment, but a relaxed peer conversation space to help make the application process feel a little less isolating and a little more manageable.
Networking over tea
We’ll finish with casual networking over freshly brewed kungfu tea and refreshments, creating a friendly space to continue conversations and connect with students who are interested in similar career paths.
Whether you are actively applying, preparing for future opportunities, recovering from rejection emails, or still figuring things out, this event is designed to help you feel more supported, connected and confident about your next steps.
Think of it as a bit like job hunting itself: sometimes bitter, sometimes sweet, but much better when shared with other people over tea and cakes!
