A dance workshop exploring the pattern of movement. Whilst UCL200 Artist in Residence, Lauren has collected patterns through workshops with UCL students, this workshop will develop dance and movement responses to the shapes and patterns that emerge. Co-led by professional dancer Nathalie Harrison.

We will be focusing on graphic dance notation and the way visual imagery can be interpreted as movement. Responding to the design that Lauren has created alongside students for a spectacular backdrop in the Bloomsbury Theatre, the dances and shapes we make will respond to the patterns and reinterpret them as movement!

Come wearing comfortable clothes for dancing in.

There will be a follow up workshop to this one on Thursday 11th June 12-3pm, it's not obligatory to come to both but it would be great if you are able!

The choreography we create will be set to music made during another workshop the same week so do come along to that one too if you're interested to make music! Pattern of Music workshop we'll also be making costumes in the Pattern of Costume workshop so spread the word and come along!

If you'd like to be part of the performance it will take place on 2nd October 2026 in the Bloomsbury Theatre and there will be a couple of rehearsals at the start of term to prepare for this.

You can further be a part of this project by applying to take part in painting the backdrops in situ at the Bloomsbury Theatre in June / July! Find more information and apply here https://studentsunionucl.org/product/202023
