Inspired by the Tiny Desk format, The Living Room Set is UCL’s first show of its kind - an intimate, stripped-back performance bringing together R&B and jazz through vocal harmonies, live instrumentation, and light percussion.
NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts have become one of the most recognisable formats in modern music, with audiences drawn to their raw, reworked arrangements. This show takes that idea off the screen and onto the stage. Each song is inspired by well-known Tiny Desk and live versions, then reimagined further, with a focus on strong harmonies and fresh instrumental parts. The versions you hear won’t sound like the originals; they’re designed to feel more personal, and more live.
The setlist features a mix of artists including Justin Timberlake, Olivia Dean, Jorja Smith, Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, Amy Winehouse, Frank Ocean, Snoh Aalegra, Musiq Soulchild, and Bruno Mars — blending classics and contemporary tracks.
With layered vocals, subtle percussion, and a relaxed, close-up atmosphere, the show focuses on musicality, connection, and creating something that feels both familiar and completely new.
