Prevention of Future Deaths (PFD) reports in the UK are issued by coroners when they believe steps can be taken to avoid similar deaths in the future. Even though these reports exist and require a response, there is no legal obligation for authorities to actually implement the changes they recommend.
The UCL Bioethics and Medical Law Society is delighted to host Jackie Linehan, Legal Director at Enable Law, to discuss her views on the lack of accountability surrounding PFDs and how they fall short in practice. Jackie specialises in high-value medical negligence claims and has over 30 years of experience managing cases, with particular expertise in childbirth, brain injury, cancer, and fatal accidents.
This talk is open to all students, regardless of discipline or experience.
