The UCL and UAL Tea Societies, in collaboration with Kew Gardens, warmly invite you to an Elegant Gathering (Yaji 雅集) — a peaceful and creative afternoon inspired by the artistic traditions of ancient Chinese literati.
This special occasion follows International Tea Day (21 May) and takes place during Xiaoman (小满) — a seasonal period symbolising gentle growth and quiet reflection. It’s the perfect time to pause, celebrate culture and creativity, and enjoy the company of community in a serene outdoor setting.
Event Highlights:
– Traditional Chinese tea ceremony
– Live performance of classical Chinese music
– Relaxing picnic beneath the spring blossoms
– Creative activities: flower sketching, card-making, and drawing games
– Space to reflect, recharge, and meet new friends
Free entry – kindly supported by Kew Gardens.
Please bring a snack or drink to share in true picnic style.
Spaces are limited – sign up early to secure your spot!
Come as you are – for the tea, the art, or simply to rest in nature’s gentle embrace.
