Philosophy and computer science are far closer than they might first appear. In fact, one can argue that computer science itself was born from philosophical reflections on logic, language, and the nature of reasoning. In this talk, Prof. Zanasi discusses some important ideas in computer science that are best understood when examined through philosophical lenses. In particular, we will see how programming language theory carries forward insights from philosophers including Russell, Wittgenstein, Peirce, Frege, and Leśniewski.
