⚡️ Lightning Lecture: Prof. Paul Dalby ⚡️

Topic: Design and Optimisation of Developable and Manufacturable Biologics
🧬 When cutting-edge drug design meets real-world manufacturing.

Join us for a special Lightning Lecture with Prof. Paul Dalby, Deputy Head of UCL Biochemical Engineering and Co-Director of the EPSRC Future Targeted Healthcare Manufacturing Hub. Prof. Dalby is a global leader in biopharmaceutical process development, bridging molecular design, protein engineering, and manufacturability.

With over two decades at UCL, he’s helped shape how the next generation of biologics—from monoclonal antibodies to complex protein therapeutics—are designed not just to work, but to be made efficiently, sustainably, and at scale.

Expect insights on:

  • How molecular and process design interconnect in biopharma R&D
  • Strategies to enhance developability and stability of biologics
  • Case studies from industry collaborations via the Targeted Healthcare Hub
  • Where AI, automation, and synthetic biology fit into the next wave of biologics manufacturing

🎤 About the Speaker:
Prof. Dalby completed his PhD under Sir Alan Fersht at Cambridge’s MRC Centre for Protein Engineering, later conducting postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania. Since joining UCL in 2000, he’s served in major leadership roles across UKRI, EPSRC, RSC, and BBSRC, mentoring countless engineers and scientists driving forward the biologics revolution.
