"Reeling is fun... but why is it like that?"

For the second year running, the CalSoc president is sufficiently irritated that nobody has thought to ask this question, and so we are returning with a Day of Historical Dance to forcibly explore and demonstrate why and how!

So join us for a beginner-friendly workshop day where we will dance through over 500 years of history, discover how the steps and patterns have developed and finally get to the bottom of why you do that gallopy thing down the middle of the set in the Reel of the 51st Division... and more!

This year we are very fortunate to have a number of costumed dancers joining us to help lead the workshop from The Arbeau Dancers, resident historical dance troupe of Temple Newsam, Leeds. You can find out more about them by heading to their Website or over on Facebook and Instagram.
