The Ragged School Museum is a beautiful and unique building that once housed the largest 'Ragged School' in London, run by the esteemed Dr Barnardo. Today the museum celebrates and remembers his achievements as well as helping people gain an understanding of the Victorian East End. Working mainly with primary school children we run fun, interactive, drama-based workshops in our reconstructed classroom and kitchen. Specifically, we aim to:

  1. Provide children, teachers and families with an understanding of the life of the Victorian poor
  2. Ensure that visits are enjoyable, inspirational and interactive
  3. Preserve our buildings and our history
