Friends of Moorfields
Friends of Moorfields is a registered charity that provides support to the patients and staff of Moorfields Eye Hospital. Among the main things we do is offering a diverse range of volunteer services to help patients navigate the hospital and support them on their patient journey.
Description

Friends of Moorfields is a registered charity that provides support to the patients and staff of Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Friends of Moorfields volunteers perform an extremely important job ensuring that all patients who come to Moorfields feel comfortable, reassured and receive the best possible treatment regardless of the outcome of their appointment.

The training for this role will begin in Feburary/March 2027 and the role will begin from April 2027. If you wish to apply for this role early we can take you on to volunteer in another role but will save your interest in this role.

Duties

As a train station support volunteer you will be based at either Kings Cross/St. Pancras or Euston station to help direct our patients to the new Moorfields centre based at St. Pancras Way, London, NW1 0PE. This may include guiding patients to find the green line which directs patients to the site, giving directions to find services such as toilets, bus stops etc. and reassuring our patients that they will be able to locate the new site.

Training
All volunteers must complete the mandatory online training of 9 modules as part of the recruitment checks, and we will formally train volunteers to know the stations etc. most likely between February-March 2027.

Time commitment

All volunteers must be willing to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week for 6 months. This role will eventually stepped down as patients locate the new site, but will last for a good few months.
Application deadline

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working to keep you safe and supported whilst you volunteer.

You’ll never be out of pocket for volunteering through us – with in-London travel expenses to and from your volunteering guaranteed.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch with us at any time.
