At the Family Action City and Hackney Social Prescribing and Outreach Service we support individual by offering an appointment with a Social Prescribing Coordinator who will conduct an in-depth needs assessment and then facilitate activate participation in local community based services, e.g. lunch clubs, gardening groups, benefits advice, exercise groups for the following groups of patients
Description
Hackney and City Social Prescribing and Outreach Service has lots of exciting and flexible Volunteering opportunities and is a great way to gain experience of helping others and building your own expereince within a caring and supporting role.
Duties
Our volunteers support our service is so many different ways. This could be supporting our social prescribers to facilitate groups, providing one to one support and encouragement for one of our many users of our social prescribing to enable them to access different activities and services to being a befriender, providing emotional support and a listening ear.
Who will the volunteers be working with?
The Social Prescribing Service supports a range of 18+ service users. Many of our service users are experiencing social isolation, physical and mental health difficulties as well as housing and financial issues.
Training
We provide mandatory training as part of the volunteer induction, inclusing child and adult safeguarding and GDPR. We also support Volunteers to access additional training once actively in their volunteering role
Time commitment
We ask our volunteers for 1-2 hours either weekly or fortnightly ideally for a minimum of 6 months
