Description

Our mission at FoodCycle is to make food waste, food poverty and loneliness, a thing of the past. Week in, week out, our volunteers turn surplus food, heading for the bin, into delicious, three course meals for the local community to enjoy (for free!)

Everyone is welcome at FoodCycle, no questions asked.

We are looking for volunteer Project Leaders to help run our sessions, once a month. Project Leaders are passionate about their communities and keep our projects running smoothly. You don’t need to have any previous experience, as we provide plenty of training and support throughout. It’s a great way of developing leadership and project management skills, whilst contributing to your community! You can find all our project leader roles at https://foodcycle.org.uk/volunteer-roles/project-leader/

Duties

FoodCycle Projects are where the magic happens, as every week we welcome guests for a delicious, wholesome meal and friendly conversation. Each Project is run on the ground by a team of 8 or more lead volunteers called Project Leaders, who take ownership and make decisions about its day-to-day running.

Each leader takes on a specific role to ensure the smooth running of their FoodCycle Project.

You can become a Hosting Project Leader, Cooking Project Leader, Surplus Food Coordinator, Communications Project Leader, Volunteer Coordinator, Project Leader Team Coordinator and Guest Support Leader!

Training
We’ll give you training and support, and you’ll develop a whole raft of skills that will look great on your CV – from teamwork to leadership. You’ll also get training in some specific areas like Safeguarding and Food Safety.

Time commitment

The suggested minimum time commitment for a Project Leader is to lead the project once a month for 6 months.
