At The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) we exist to create and cultivate a vibrant Black ecosystem in the UK film and TV sector by championing Black-led film production, distribution, exhibition and preserving Black filmmaking and television.

Are you passionate about film, culture, and representing diverse stories? Join The New Black Film Collective as a Project Assistant Volunteer and be part of creating bold, exciting events and projects that celebrate Black creativity across the UK.

You'll help bring screenings, festivals, workshops, and community projects to life—working alongside creatives, industry professionals, and a supportive team that wants to see you grow.

Duties

Duties can vary 

  • Help organise project documents, schedules, and shared folders.
  • Update spreadsheets, contact lists, and respond to basic enquiries.
  • Assist with meeting notes, action points, and tracking deadlines.
  • Create simple digital assets such as social graphics, posters, and slides.
  • Draft short copy for social media and help schedule posts.
  • Monitor engagement and collect basic analytics.
  • Support outreach to universities, partners, and community groups.
  • Edit short video clips for social media, adding captions and simple transitions.
  • Organise raw footage, export files, and prepare content for upload.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes clips during events (if assigned).Checking in the audience
