Description

We're looking for Volunteers (based in and around Hackney and Haringey) to join us at our after-school sessions, where you will be supporting young people aged 9 to 13 with their reading and writing and championing their work as they become published poets, authors and podcast creators!

We're looking for people that are positive about social change and that love literacy. No experience working with young people is necessary as full training is given.

Sessions run during term time Monday to Friday, 3.45pm-6.45pm.

Duties

As a Volunteer Crewmate, you’ll come along to our teacher-led afterschool sessions to help support children aged 9 to 13 develop their reading and writing skills.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
-Young people aged between 9 and 13 years old who go to school and live in Hackney and Haringey.
-Qualified teachers who have a wealth of primary and secondary classroom experience to share.
-A diverse volunteering community comprising people from a myriad of different professions and all walks of life.
Training
We provide our volunteers with a 3 hours worth of training where we will also complete a DBS for you free of charge.

Time commitment

We ask for volunteers to complete at least 12 sessions overall, ideally at a rate of one per month.

So, that's any day Monday to Friday (it can be a different day each month!) from 3:45-6:45pm. You can volunteer more than this!

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.
