JUST LIKE US
Just Like Us partners with prestigious employers to train you to give talks in assemblies that challenge homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying, bust stereotypes and explain why LGBT+ equality is everyone's issue.
Description

LGBT+ school pupils are twice as likely to be bullied. Our LGBT+ ambassadors help change that, by volunteering to speak in schools about growing up LGBT+ and the importance of allyship.

Our ambassadors form a network of young and diverse LGBT+ individuals who talk about their experiences to positively impact the lives of LGBT+ young people. Through telling our own stories we can all play a part in ensuring the younger generation of young LGBT+ people grow up with the support and representation they need.We have ambassadors from various faith and ethnic backgrounds, as well as ambassadors with diverse LGBT+ identities, disabilities and levels of income. You do not need to be out to everybody in order to make a difference with us.

Benefits:

  • As an ambassador, you’ll also get opportunities to meet LGBT+ friends, write media articles and develop skills.
  • Through this work, you will gain employability skills such as public speaking, project management, digital media creation and team working.
  • During the signup process, there will be an opportunity to ask for any access needs that you may have, so that we can support all volunteers from the very beginning.

Just Like Us believes that all young LGBT+ people deserve to live awesome lives. If you’re LGBT+ and age 18-25, you could volunteer as an ambassador! You’ll be joining the UK’s biggest community of LGBT+ 18 to 25 year olds volunteering their time to change the world.

If you are worried about a barrier to volunteering, get in touch with the team at [email protected].
