Impact Initiative
We aim to create an empowered community of refugees & students through collective learning at UCL. We aim to link UCL students with refugees between the ages of 16-25 years old, and support them with developmental aspects such as school work, improving their English speaking, and also applying to university. This year, we will be continuing our work with Hopscotch Women's Centre in providing English tutoring to Afghan refugees, offering tutoring sessions twice a week in local hotels. Furthermore, we will be collaborating with Bridging the Future, a local organisation mentoring young people from disadvantaged backgrounds on their educational and career pursuits.
Time commitment
For those planning on volunteering with us for Hopscotch, we expect minimum one hour per week of tutoring, and will sometimes be required for additional help with lesson material creation and planning.
