Friends of Moorfields is a registered charity that provides support to the patients and staff of Moorfields Eye Hospital. Among the main things we do is offering a diverse range of volunteer services to help patients navigate the hospital and support them on their patient journey.

Friends of Moorfields is a registered charity that provides support to the patients and staff of Moorfields Eye Hospital. Among the main things we do is offering a diverse range of volunteer services to help patients navigate the hospital and support them on their patient journey.

Friends of Moorfields volunteers perform an extremely important job ensuring that all patients who come to Moorfields feel comfortable, reassured and receive the best possible treatment regardless of the outcome of their appointment.  

We will be happy to support volunteers with references, training opportunities and looking for careers.

Duties

Our Health & Information Hub volunteers support our team provide advice, guidance and support for patients looking for non-clinical care. This can include how to use Meta Rayban glasses/assistive technology, providing detailed information about support services and being a listening ear to those who are feeling anxious or concerned. 

Training
We require all volunteers to undergo the recruitment process which includes some online training and a DBS check.

Time commitment

We require volunteers to be available for a minimum of a once weekly slot of 3 hours per week morning/afternoon each week, typically anytime between 9am-5pm from Monday-Friday for 6 months.
