bobu
bobu is a Brighton-based safety training organisation founded by Luciana Cousin and Nick Cousin. It exists because the existing infrastructure of LGBTQ+ safety, policies, diversity statements, HR processes, safe space stickers, responds to harm after it has already happened. bobu works in the gap before that: the 30-second window in which a person's nervous system registers threat, calculates…
Description

About bobu

At bobu, we fight for a world where no one has to calculate the cost of being themselves.

We are on a mission to make the world a safer place through research, tools, and advocacy.
We are campaigning to eliminate "safewashing". To ensure that when a space claims to be a safe space, it actually is.

As our Grant Writer & Fundraising Assistant, you’ll help secure the resources bobu needs to scale our research, expand our tools, and push for real policy change that has an impact. You will turn our mission, data, and community stories into compelling funding proposals so we can keep building the new standard in safety. We can make the UK a safer place for all.

Duties
  1. Grant & Funder Research: Track down UK trust funds, foundation grants, tech-for-good funding, and public body grants aligned with safety, violence prevention, mental health, and community empowerment.
  2. Proposal & Bid Writing: Draft clear, persuasive grant applications and funding pitches that capture bobu’s distinct voice—translating complex topics like safewashing, hypervigilance, and community safety into practical funding narratives.
  3. Application Management: Help organise our fundraising pipeline, track submission deadlines, and assemble supporting research/documentation
  4. Impact Storytelling: Work with the team to translate our data into clear outcomes that demonstrate value to grantors and donors.

Time commitment

We are quite flexible. We estimate about 2- 4 hours per week. We can be flexible on days to fit around your schedule.
