Poplar HARCA
Poplar HARCA is an award winning Housing and Regeneration Community Association in East London. We focus on providing homes and support to residents old and new; helping to create a place where people, communities and businesses can grow and thrive.
Description

Digital Champions are people of all ages and from all backgrounds and communities. They help others understand the benefits of using the internet and can show them to do simple things online that can make a huge difference in people’s lives. You don’t need to be an IT whizz, just have some spare time, an enjoyment of being online yourself, and a passion to help others.

There are millions of people who don’t know how to use the internet. They’re missing out on a whole world of fun, information, and savings. A Digital Champion inspires others to use computers and the internet. Whether that’s helping a neighbour to send an email, handing out leaflets for computer classes, or helping a friend to set up their new computer or laptop, you can become a Digital Champion Volunteer and inspire others to make the most of life online.

Duties
  • Meeting residents within the community on a weekly basis to help them with everyday basic digital skills.
  • Helping to build residents' confidence and self- esteem by using popular digital technology.
  • Helping tutors with the delivery of digital skills classes.
  • To keep a good record of your work, including reporting verbally to their supervisor and completing relevant forms.
  • Outreaching to local providers.
  • Helping to set up / clear up the facilities.
