Mary’s Meals
Mary’s Meals provides one daily meal in their place of education to some of the world’s poorest children. These life-changing meals attract hungry children into the classroom. The food provides energy and the opportunity to learn, giving them the chance of a brighter future. We want to enable people to offer their money, skills, time, or prayer, to help those suffering the effects of extreme…

We are recruiting community volunteers to pro-actively raise awareness of the work of Mary’s Meals. We want to give students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the charity sector whilst reaching out to other students and their local communities to raise awareness of Mary’s Meals. We believe in providing the independence and freedom for students to develop their own ideas and fundraising initiatives for their own personal development. Yet, we also will ensure guidance where needed to encourage the shared vision of Mary's Meals and facilitate training for those who wish to take part in speaker events, communications or group leadership. We are also very happy to announce that UCL now has it's own Mary's Meals Group which volunteers are more than welcome to join.

Time commitment

No minimum commitment, flexible hours.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
If attending in-person events, we ask Mary's Meals staff members, volunteers, and attendees to follow government guidelines to keep everyone as safe as possible. There will never be any pressure from Mary's Meals to attend events in-person if people do not feel safe doing so. There will always be options for virtual meetings, and we now have the capacity to do some of our awareness-raising talks online (no longer limiting people who do not feel safe doing in-person talks from getting experience giving talks). Admin community volunteers can work from home or from the office, which ever they feel most comfortable with.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch at any time with any questions, queries or problems you encounter.
