Training Link is a local basic skills training organisation. Founded in 1985, we are based at the back of the British Library, in Somers Town. We need volunteer tutors for our Adult Literacy project. Volunteer for a 1-1 session for 1.5 hours a week with an adult learner who wants to improve their reading, writing, spelling or grammar. Can be done remotely or at our centre 15 minutes walk from UCL. We can provide support with teaching materials. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and patience.

Time commitment

Usually weekly in term time 1-1. 1- 2 hours per week lesson time .We recognise that students have commitments and exams.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
While the pandemic is on, volunteers are working completely online with learners, normally via Zoom- no face to face contact. We have undergone a detailed Covid risk assessment for re-opening the centre.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch at any time with any questions, queries or problems you encounter.
