Everyone knows the basics about London - it's the capital of the UK, home to the Monarch and the Prime Minister, and it is a city that runs almost entirely on Pret. But what about some of the lesser known facts? Here's some niche London knowledge to impress your friends with.

East London is home to some of the most creative neighbourhoods in London. From picturesque parks to a buzzing nightlife scene, it's easily one of the most exciting places to call home. Here's a rundown of some of East London's best bits, from hotspots to hidden gems. 

If you’re in UCL Halls, volunteering is a great way to feel part of the neighbourhood and get to meet people. To help you discover the community on your doorstep, we've curated a list of current volunteering opportunities for every UCL Hall of residence - all within twenty minutes walk.

We had the chance to speak to Tanya Gligorovici about her volunteering at the EFG London Jazz Festival! Tanya is an exchange student from Paris studying Modern Languages and Business at UCL. Read on to find out more about her experience!

Despite UCL being home to 19 libraries (yes, we counted), bagging a comfortable study space can be a challenge. We thought we would share our favourite off-campus spots for those days when you need to get away from the rush.
