Purpose of the job

We’re looking for an organised, curious and self-motivated UCL student to help us deliver and grow our  Social Enterprise programme.

Social enterprises are businesses that exist to make a positive difference in the world. Our team helps UCL students explore social and environmental challenges, develop ideas, connect with inspiring organisations and turn their interests into action. We run events, workshops, challenges and development programmes, working with social enterprises and partners across London and beyond.

Behind every successful event, partnership and student opportunity is a lot of organisation. In this role, you’ll help keep our programme running smoothly by supporting the team with administration, coordination, communications, data and day-to-day operations. This could include maintaining spreadsheets and databases, organising meetings, supporting event logistics, processing paperwork, coordinating communications and helping us understand the impact of our work.

But this isn’t just an admin job. You’ll be part of a small, ambitious team working to make social change more accessible to students. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes view of how social enterprises operate and how programmes are developed, funded and delivered. There will be opportunities to explore the areas that interest you most, whether that’s sustainability, animal welfare, social justice, entrepreneurship, events, communications, research or something else entirely.

You don’t need to have experience in social enterprise, and you don’t need to know exactly what you want to do after university. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in doing things well, enjoys learning and wants to contribute to work that makes a difference.

The role will be flexible around your studies, with a supportive team to learn from and opportunities to take on additional projects as your confidence and interests develop.

Successful shortlisted candidates will join us for interviews w/c Monday the 26th of October.

About the Union

Students’ Union UCL is an organisation that exists to make more happen. We are the representative body for University College London’s (UCL) students, one of the most diverse student communities in the world.  UCL students have the potential to do anything, and the Union leads an essential role in helping them to achieve things they may have never thought possible. As a charity we deliver a wide range of services and representative functions for students.

The Student Social Impact department is newly formed and really exciting; unusual for a Students’ Union setting, we focus on enabling students to create positive social change in the world around them through their extra- and curricular activities at university. We are also halfway through UCL’s Student Life Strategy and have some ground to make up, spreading the word to students about this exciting new department.

Expect a fun, fast-paced, and supportive working environment!
