Purpose of the job

Are you passionate about food, drink and creating a community on campus? Do you have ideas about how we can encourage students to visit our bars, cafes and shops through social media? If so, this may be the job for you, as we’re looking for an assistant to support with marketing campaigns and create social media content for our Students’ Union bars, cafes and shops including the Hanger.  Every penny of profit made in any of our commercial outlets is reinvested straight back into the student community making this a vital and diverse team to work with and support.

 

Starting in August or September, this position will have regular hours, approx. 6-7 hours a week although this will change subject to demand. The position can also be split between two candidates for 3 hours a week.

Job description

The Social Media Assistant will support the Marketing Coordinator in the operational delivery of social media marketing content and campaigns for the Students’ Union Commercial outlets including cafes, bars and shops.

Duties and responsibilities 

 

  • Social media: Preparing and posting interactive content on the Union Cafes, Union Bars and Union Shops Instagram (e.g. new products, events, staff interviews, opening hours, competitions), keeping the account fresh and relevant. 

 

  • Content creation: Supporting with the development of the commercial social media content calendars, researching potential content ideas and contributing to content planning sessions. In addition to creating content, taking photos of products and giving feedback on Students’ Union UCL communications.

 

  • Administrative tasks: Handling day-to-day social media enquiries related to the Commercial outlets, for example, replying to comments and direct messages. Additionally monitoring for any other online reviews that need responding to. Supporting with reputation management, responding to comments and feedback from customers.
