About the job

The Russian Language Centre (RLC) is looking for a new part-time member of staff to join the admin team, enthusiastic and keen to learn, and enjoy engaging with customers and staff, as well as being able to help with more physical tasks such as arranging classroom furniture and bringing stationery supplies up the stairs.

RLC is normally located in Pushkin House, the Russian cultural centre, and the job is likely to appeal particularly to anyone who wants to work at the heart of Russian language and culture in London. Please note that until 21st September we are temporarily located in a different building 5 minutes away while renovation work goes on in Pushkin House.

Normal working hours are 4-7pm Monday - Thursday and 10am-2pm on Saturdays. 

 

Job description

This is a varied role covering all aspects of running RLC’s office. Your role will be to support the lead administrator’s work. Main duties will involve:

  • Reception; in particular dealing with our Saturday group programme
  • Providing support to teachers and students
  • Setting up classrooms for hybrid lessons
  • Responding to enquiries on the phone, email and in person
  • Filing, photocopying, scanning
  • Light cleaning
  • Managing office supplies
  • Holiday and sick cover for other members of the admin team

 

The ideal candidate will be able to show they possess the following:

  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Accurate record-keeping
  • Confidence in MS Office packages, including Excel
  • Other general IT skills (i.e. basic hardware and software problem-solving) also an advantage
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and be trained
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Ability to juggle various tasks, including practical jobs around the office
  • Previous office experience an advantage but not essential

Knowledge of Russian and an interest in Russia are an advantage but not essential
