Purpose of the job
Students’ Union UCL is looking for a Project Assistant to support with the coordination and delivery of Discover the UK, which is one of the flagship programmes run by the Intercultural Engagement team.
The Intercultural Engagement department aims to create a global experience for all students at UCL. By increasing the number and range of intercultural exposure opportunities, our ambition is to enable students to gain life-changing experiences, develop new skills, and increase their intercultural awareness and understanding.
Discover the UK
Launched in 2024, the Discover the UK programme gives students low-cost, easy ways to explore the best of what the UK has to offer - from historic cities to cultural landmarks. It is our ambition to support students to make new memories, meet new people outside of their courses, and get to know the country beyond campus.
The Discover the UK Project Assistant will play a key role in helping the programme run smoothly by supporting with the planning, logistics, and administration behind the trips, as well as helping to promote them to students.
As the programme grows, the role will also involve planning future trips, researching new destinations, and exploring partnerships with external organisations to broaden opportunities for students.
You’ll work closely with the Intercultural Engagement team to ensure each trip offers students a welcoming, safe, and memorable experience. This includes helping manage bookings, communicating with suppliers and students, and assisting with feedback and evaluation after each trip.
Wider Intercultural Engagement team projects
The successful candidate may also be asked to support the wider work of the Intercultural Engagement department. This includes our Language & Culture Discovery, Cultural Celebrations, International Mobility, and Leaders in Dialogue Programme.
