Purpose of the job:

 

The Arts Assistant (Production) will support the smooth delivery of artsUCL Productions Bloomsbury Theatre & Studio season and wider artsUCL activities, providing practical, administrative, and communications support to ensure a high-quality experience for students and practitioners. The postholder will work closely with the Arts Production Coordinator and Arts Assistants[SB1] [PO2] , to deliver engaging and accessible creative opportunities for the artsUCL community. Undertake tasks such as inbox and website management, oversee the artsUCL spaces, capture content from the artsUCL Season, and will provide flexible assistance across the team as needed, enabling a cohesive and high-quality experience for the artsUCL community.

Job description

Production

 

Communications

  • Work collaboratively with the Arts Assistants in managing the artsUCL inbox to ensure efficient handling of communications and requests, assigning queries to relevant members of staff.
  • Triage student queries and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Capture and edit content to promote the artsUCL productions, and wider artsUCL initiatives effectively.
  • Generate creative ideas for engaging content that resonates with the demographics of the artsUCL community.
  • Plan and write copy for website articles to spotlight activity within the artsUCL community. 

 

 

Ad-hoc support

  • Offer ad-hoc support for events as needed, such as Welcome, Awards and Open Days, assisting with logistics and ensuring a smooth experience for participants.
  • Report any concerns with artsUCL managed spaces to the appropriate staff member
  • Support the management of ad-hoc room booking requests for society and club activities

Other

  • The role will require the post holder to work a variety of hours, including regular evening and irregular weekend shifts. 
  • Maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations. 
  • Actively comply and promote UCL’s equal opportunity policy.

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • Strong IT skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Fluent written and verbal English.
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of events
  • Enthusiasm for the artsUCL community at Students’ Union UCL.
  • Strong knowledge of artsUnlocked programmes at Students’ Union UCL.

 

 

Desirable

 

  • Knowledge and experience of Canva, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • A passion for the arts and enthusiasm to facilitate access to creative opportunities.
  • Proven ability to confidently create content for social media.
