“In film, we sculpt time, we sculpt behaviour, and we sculpt light” - David Fincher
Time, behaviour and light encompass some of the themes and ideas that informs the film-making process. How do you capture timeless, profound stories on screen, how do you imbue human behaviour through your characters and world? And finally, how are stories translated on set through the camera, lights, set design, costume? In this introductory 8-week film-making artsUnlocked Lab, participants will learn the theoretical and practical framework that will allow them to translate their own unique stories from the page to the screen.
Are you completely new to film but always wanted to learn about it? Or have you already made some films before with friends or maybe in college? This artsUnlocked Lab, open to all film-making levels will equip you with the basic film-making skills and principles you need to write, direct, shoot and edit your own projects. It will also give you a rounded understanding of other professions and roles available in this profession.
Working in small groups, you will produce 3-minute short films, collaborating with fellow students and actors from UCL. You will also be working with professional high end digital cameras and other equipment's from the Students' Union. Ultimately, this artsUnlocked Lab will give you a broad and invaluable grounding in film theory and practice.
