Park Kitchen is a community research and documentary film project which is running once a month throughout 2026!
Each month we visit a different London borough, and find a bandstand, in a park. In this bandstand, we build a kitchen. This kitchen is designed by different artists each time, reflecting their vision of this domestic and private space.
We then invite local residents to cook, eat and chat together in this public/private space. All the while, we are filming the interactions that occur, for a documentary film project we will make in 2027, with all the footage collated.
The film will look at how Bandstands can be used as community spaces, and what kind of interactions happen in a purposefully curated 'private' space, within a public realm.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our Research and Production Lead with a range of activities throughout the project.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support Iour Research and Production Lead with a range of activities throughout the project. This will include helping to set up and organise the kitchen space, supporting outreach and conversations with local residents and, if you’d like to get involved on camera, joining in with the cooking and chatting too!
This role is perfect for people who are practical, organised and happy to get stuck in, while also enjoying meeting new people and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We’re especially keen to hear from volunteers who love engaging with members of the community, making connections and helping others feel comfortable and included. Whether you’re assisting behind the scenes or taking part in the filmed conversations, you’ll play an important role in bringing the project to life.
