Friday 29 April saw the culmination of three of our TeamUCL Leagues that have been running through the academic year: TeamUCL 3v3 Basketball League, TeamUCL Netball League, and TeamUCL Volleyball League. At Somers Town Community Sports Centre, the top teams from each league reunited for the final showdown to answer the all important question: who is the best team in the league?

We started with the Netball and Basketball Semi Finals, taking place on the outdoors courts and indoors sports hall respectively. In the Netball league, ACS Netball triumphed over UCL Netball 6s and Goalden Girls took the win from UCL Netball Postgrads leaving ACS Netball and UCL Netball 6s for the finals. Over on the (half) basketball court, we watched a very tight game played between Hiami Meat and Socially Distanced Defenders, with Hiami Meat just stealing the win with a 15-14 score at full time. Unfortunately there was a no show on the other court, propelling Bamberg Bimballers straight to the Finals.

Whilst the Netball Semis continued, we watched the first of our Finals - Hiami Meat against Bamberg Bimballers in the 3v3 Basketball Final. Again, it was another incredibly tight game (a credit to the league) which saw a thrilling last minute win for Bamberg Bimballers, snatching the TeamUCL 3v3 Basketball League title with a thrilling 15-14 win. Amazing hustle from Hiami Meat for playing back to back games and finishing runners up.

After a short break, we welcomed back the Netballers, this time indoors. It was time for the winner's deciding game between ACS Netball and Goalden Girls. In much the same style as the Basketball Finals, the girls left us on the edge of our seats as each team showed their dominance across the quarters. One team prevailed though - ACS Netball secured the win with a final score of 15-10. Another incredible final and exactly what we expected from two experienced teams.

To finish off the inaugural TeamUCL Finals, Volleyball took to the court. The top two teams from the league had been fast tracked to the TeamUCL Volleyball Final. These two teams were: Cassens Volleyball and Knockoff Mixed 1. A common theme throughout the evening, we were spectators to another incredibly tight game that went to the third and final set. First set saw Cassens Volleyball take the early lead, with a score of 25-22. Second set, however, went to Knockoff Mixed 1 as they stormed to a 25-18 win. This left a final set, first to score 15. The set was nail-bitingly close, the final deciding score being 15-13 to Knockoff Mixed 1.

TeamUCL just want to say a huge congratulations to the three team winners: Bamberg Bimballers in the TeamUCL 3v3 Basketball League, ACS Netball in the TeamUCL Netball League, and Knockoff Mixed 1 in the TeamUCL Volleyball League. These finals were incredible to watch and big well done to all those that made it to the semi-finals or finals, the standard of playing was really high and it made for a great evening of sport.

We look forward to you joining us again next year for another season of the TeamUCL Leagues.
