Officiating at TeamUCL

Being a referee or umpire is a fantastic way to get more involved in a sport you love, gain professional skills and earn money. We can support you through your officiating journey, whether you're fully qualified or just starting to think about it.

Officiating opportunities

TeamUCL Social Leagues and Tournaments

We run weekly leagues and one-off tournaments in a number of sports, find out more here. We have paid officiating roles for netball, football, volleyball and basketball league for students with officiating qualifications. These matches happen on or close to campus.

• Earn up to £20 per hour if you have a refereeing/officiating qualification
• Earn up to £15 per hour if you have a first aid qualification and are working towards an officiating qualification.

We are recruiting for the following roles this year:

• Netball League Umpire | Wednesdays 4:15-6:15PM | Maria Fidelis School
• Basketball League Referee | Sundays 3-5PM | Acland Burghley School
• Football League Referee | Various dates & times | View Term 1 football leagues here

We are able to heavily subsidise officiating qualification costs if you plan to work with TeamUCL Leagues as a match official. Our match officials are required to have a first aid qualification and we can enrol you onto a course if you haven't already.

BUCS/LUSL Matches

Many TeamUCL clubs play regular fixtures in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) or LUSL (London Univerisities Sports Leagues), meaning there is a big demand for officials.

Other Local Leagues

There are plenty of opportunities for officials in London outside of university sport. This is a great option for students that are busy representing UCL in BUCS (or other competitions).
