Election post
Yoga Society was the first club I joined at UCL, and it gave me so much. Before joining I had never practised yoga, but thanks to the society it has become one of the most important parts of my life. It also gave me my first real community at UCL, which is why it is so dear to me and has created some of my favourite memories at university.
I am running for Vice President because I love working across different aspects of a society and helping bring people together. Last year, as Communications Officer for the Yoga and Meditation Society (and the culprit of the slightly horrendous “Yoga Quote of the Day”), I had the opportunity to engage with many members and help bring back social events people wanted. Through this, I realised how much I enjoy creating spaces where members feel included and heard.
While on my year abroad I have loved seeing Yoga Society continue to grow (though not without serious FOMO). As Vice President, I would love to help organise more social events, special classes, and opportunities for members to connect both inside and outside of practice.
Despite California having many opportunities to practise yoga, they are unlike the unique community we have at UCL. The teachers, retreats, and students make it special, and I would love to help ensure it remains a place where people can find both connection and peace of mind.
