Ritwik Pain

I have been an active member of UCL Surgical Society for four years and have held both committee and subcommittee roles, including Education Officer, Cardiothoracics Events Manager and INUGSC 2026 Workshops Programme Lead. These positions reflect my sustained commitment to the society and have allowed me to develop strong organisational, logistical and leadership skills.

My experiences that I feel make me best suited for this role:

• Organisation of People and Logistics through my various committee roles both in and out of surgical society. This means I am confident I will be able to coordinate the specialty chairs to ensure high quality events are being delivered. This is also useful for overseeing the other initiatives our society runs and ensuring adequate equipment and resources are available and sourcing them if not.
• Gaining lots of surgical contacts through my work as INUGSC 2026 Workshops Programme Lead I have developed many surgical contacts which will be important for organising our Surgical Society Gala as well as assisting specialty chairs in acquiring contacts for any events if needed.
• Participating in several surgical society initiatives both as an organiser and attendee I have developed a good understanding of what works and where improvements can be made.
