This year, student surgical conferences face intense competition. To stand out, UCL Surg Soc must move beyond rented experiences and repeated formats, and instead build its own technically ambitious workshops that evolve year after year.

Workshops:

  • Implement 3D printing and microcontroller technologies to deliver novel, high-fidelity, innovative workshops.
  • Provide exposure to procedures rarely available at the student level.
  • More hands-on time with more models.

Beyond INUGSC:
I will introduce a culture shift by empowering future committees to design, build, and refine in-house workshops, rather than relying on rented or low-fidelity models.

To support this, I will establish a centralised workshop drive accessible to all Surg Soc subcommittees, containing:

  • Blueprints
  • Materials lists
  • Assembly and setup guides

This preserves knowledge and gradually increases Surg Soc’s in-house model inventory. Over time, this makes us uniquely self-sufficient.

Speakers:
Despite its international branding, INUGSC currently lacks international speakers. I will prioritise stronger global connections and ensure that workshops align with talks, delivering a more coherent experience.

Why Me?

  • INUGSC Workshop Coordinator – delivered 3D-printed workshops
  • General Surgery Conference Co-Lead – delivered 4 workshops
  • Developed appendix and other surgical models at a fraction of commercial cost
  • Direct access to 3D printing facilities

My plan extends beyond 1 year: establishing a culture where UCL Surg Soc builds its own future.
