Hey all,

Many of you who’ve attended tournaments will already know me as I’ve represented this club on a few occasions now over the last couple of years.

I’ve not yet held a committee position in this club, but I have captained a team on two occasions at comps. I’ve also performed a few functions in other committees and the SU, having been a Society Treasurer (particularly relevant here), a Network Campaigns Representative and a Non-portfolio Societies Rep. These positions have taught me a lot, and given me quite a bit of practice at organizing activities, filling out forms, communicating with and working with the SU, different groups and people, and so on.

As for plans if I were to be elected, I’ll obviously primarily defer to our President, but I would have a few suggested ideas I’d like to think about implementing if given a chance, and if they’re feasible:

  • An increase in promotion of the club through various different means, to get as many new people involved as possible.
  • Some kind of professional coaching on offer at least once per term.
  • Some social activities beyond our weekly pool social.
  • Possible collaboration with other clubs at UCL, and also with Imperial & KCL.

Other than that, I’ll mainly just be someone organizing things, principally but not exclusively finance-related, in the background. Elect me to do that stuff so you don’t have to 😉

Chris Galicia Escudero

I am standing for Treasurer because I genuinely love being part of this club. I have played American and English pool, as well as snooker, casually since I was a child and grew up watching snooker, so it has always been something I have enjoyed. Being involved in the society this year has allowed me to keep improving, learn from the committee and meet new people, and I would really like to give something back to you guys and future members.

I previously served as an award-winning Treasurer for UCL Taekwondo, a large scale club, so I understand the responsibility that comes with managing society finances and working closely with a committee. Studying Economics and Statistics has also made me more comfortable and confident working with numbers and budgeting.

If elected, I will take the role seriously and make sure the society’s finances are handled properly so we can continue running events that members enjoy.

Thank you :)

Aryan Gill

Having served as Treasurer this year, I’m standing again because I’m genuinely passionate about our Pool & Snooker Club and want to continue building on the progress we’ve made. Over the past year, I’ve developed a strong understanding of the role - managing budgets, organising competition and match fees, handling reimbursements, and ensuring our finances were clear and transparent throughout the year.

Alongside the role itself, I’ve represented UCL in numerous tournaments, so I understand first-hand how financial decisions directly affect players - from entries and travel to the overall competitive experience. That perspective is important to me. I don’t just want to manage our accounts; I want our finances to actively support the club’s growth and performance.

This year has been a valuable learning experience. I now have a much clearer idea of where we can improve - whether that’s earlier budgeting, better forecasting, or allocating funds more strategically. By building on what we’ve learned, I want to put us in a position to run and support even more events and tournaments next year, while maintaining financial stability.

Re-running means continuity, reliability, and momentum rather than starting from scratch. I care deeply about the club, both as a committee member and as a player, and I’d love the opportunity to continue strengthening it next year.

James Illingworth

I’d like to nominate myself for Treasurer as I’ve been part of the society for almost two years now and have gained a strong understanding of how it runs behind the scenes. During my time as Event Coordinator, I worked closely with the Treasurer to organise events and manage budgets, which gave me valuable insight into the financial side of the society.

Through that experience, I’ve become familiar with handling costs, planning spending for events, and making sure everything runs smoothly and responsibly. I’m organised, reliable, and confident managing money carefully to ensure the society remains financially stable while still delivering great events for members. I’d love the opportunity to step into this role and contribute in a way that keeps the society growing and well-managed.
