Election post
I stand as a candidate for Sports Director with the belief that sports are not just about competition, but about building community and belonging. As students studying far from home, it is especially important for us to find spaces that feel familiar and welcoming. Singsoc plays a vital role in creating that sense of home, and I believe sports are some of the most powerful tools we have to strengthen those bonds.
As Sports Director, I will strive to organise inclusive and accessible sporting events that cater to all skill levels, ensuring that everyone feels welcome to participate. These initiatives can range from competitive inter-school tournaments to casual recreational sessions where members can make new friends, stay active, and unwind from academic pressure. By offering a variety of activities, I hope to encourage wider participation and create opportunities for meaningful interaction within the society.
Most importantly, I want to ensure that sports within the society are not solely focused on winning, but on fostering support and shared memories. University life can be academically demanding, and regular sporting activities provide both physical release and mental balance. Through consistent and well-organised events, I aim to cultivate a positive, energetic, and supportive sporting culture. I hope to contribute meaningfully to Singsoc and help make every member’s university experience more connected, healthy, and memorable.
