Election post
Two years ago I started UCL Polo because I genuinely love the sport and the community around it. I wanted to build something that gave other students the chance to try it, regardless of background or experience.
In the last two years we have:
• 38 active playing members (majority beginners)
• Structured weekly training across all ability levels
• Multiple SUPA entries with 4th place National finishes
• Founded London Varsity (12–5.5 Winter win)
• Elite & international fixtures incl. JP. Morgan, Eton, Army & French Nationals
• Featured twice in Polo Times
• Secured SU funding and external sponsorship
Next year I will:
• Run regular internal chukka days open to all
• Guarantee at least three beginner-focused competitive opportunity per term
•Collaborate with Team UCL to run weekly S&C sessions
• Reinvest sponsorship and SU funding into access and development to reduce financial pressure
• Target a SUPA podium finish while maintaining inclusive access
• Strengthen committee delegation to secure long-term stability
• Expand socials through a greater range of events and more consistent weekly socials
• Strengthen inter-university and London club social calendar
Everything we’ve built so far, from lessons and fixtures to dinners and international tournaments, has had one aim: to create real opportunities for students to get involved, compete, socialise and feel part of something.
That’s why I founded the club and why I want to continue leading it next year.
