Mrinalini Jha

Hi there! My name is Mrinalini (or just Mrin); I’m a First Year Politics and International Relations student and am interested in the Events Director spot for Piano Soc! 

I’ve always been passionate about piano and event directing. At my high school, I used to help the Music Department plan Graduation and Ceremonial performances, including solo piano performances and orchestra. Other than planning, I helped with the tech (such as sound and lighting) and hosted some of these events. In addition to this, as part of the Prefect body, I organized Christmas charity music trips to hospitals and elderly care services, which often needed gathering 30 students to make the performance possible. As Piano Society recently organized its first concert trip, I’m excited to continue this as I personally love finding such events around London (nothing better than Seong-Jin Cho at the Barbican!) and always know when and where these are happening. When I’m not writing an essay or wish-listing concerts to attend, I enjoy learning new pieces, usually film, or challenge myself with some Chopin. 

As for the future, some of my event ideas include having termly piano sessions (mini-concerts), charity events (such as at hospitals), and ‘public piano crawls’ which would be finding public pianos around campus and beyond (we could start with King’s Cross’ piano). 

Most importantly, I have an undying love for piano and would love to help this society find more piano enthusiasts and help the community grow!
