Freya Lyne

Hi, I'm Freya, a second year History Student who loves art and design! UCL is brimming with creative talent and I want Pi to embody exactly that. 

As your Design Officer, my vision would be for Pi magazine and newspaper to be something students can express themselves through, fusing both a professional and personal look into its design. I would like to form a dedicated design team, creating a collaborative space where students can learn together. Through bi-termly meetings, I want to develop a community of designers who support one another regardless of experience level, helping one another learn about graphic design. 

Beyond layouts and formatting, I want to expand what Pi magazine and newspaper looks like creatively. I would implement illustration commissions alongside our writing commissions, creating a structured platform for student artists to contribute original artwork to each issue. This will give students the opportunity to create and present their artwork, enhancing the look of the newspaper and magazine. 

I greatly value communication and collaboration, learning from the past year that teamwork is key with both the committee and members. I will help make teamwork central to how the design team operates, working closely with editors, writers, and the wider society. 

I'm passionate about art, journalism, and creative expression, and I'd be honoured to help the publication represent the full breadth of UCL's talent.
