MedTech Society: Events Officer

Hi everyone! My name is Amadeus, and I am a Biomedical Science student. I believe I stand out as a candidate for Events Officer due to my experience in coordinating events, along with my strong teamwork and communication skills.

This year, as a 1st Year Representative of the Neuroscience Society, I had the opportunity to liaise with professors and coordinate with other universities for the 20th Anniversary Neuroscience Conference in King’s College London. I drafted emails, coordinated with speakers, ensured smooth communication among all parties, and updated senior members when unexpected situations arose. Additionally, as social service team in HKPASS, I helped organise the flagship event “Amazing Raise,” a full-day event that attracted around 120 students from different universities and raised funds for a charity supporting educational equality.

Through these experiences, I have strengthened my skills to coordinate event, and communicate with different teams to ensure smooth and efficient execution. I have also developed the ability to assess feasibility, manage resources effectively, and enhance participant engagement to deliver impactful events. I am excited to contribute to the MedTech Society by organising engaging workshops and conferences that provide meaningful career insights and educational value to you !!!

I’m standing for Event Officer because I genuinely enjoy bringing people together around ideas and making events both engaging and meaningful. Through my experience volunteering at the Tianboya Lecture series, where I taught Chinese cultural topics to over 80 international students, I learned how to make sessions interactive, accessible, and enjoyable for diverse audiences. It showed me that a good event isn’t just about content — it’s about how you create an atmosphere where people feel involved.

I coordinated team members as a subgroup leader in high-school iGEM, working on designing a cost-effective fermenter and conducting synthetic biology experiments. Alongside the technical work, I also helped produce outreach videos and delivered presentations in schools, which strengthened my confidence in organising activities and communicating complex ideas clearly. My volunteer work in Alzheimer’s care further taught me the importance of empathy and thoughtful planning when designing workshops.

I’d love to help organise MedTech Society events that are well-structured, welcoming, and genuinely inspiring — whether that’s academic talks, workshops, or networking sessions that make students feel excited about innovation in healthcare.
