Election post
Hi! I’m Iman – a pathology nerd at heart and strong believer in ‘sharing is caring’, keen to share my enthusiasm, whether you’re a fellow pathology lover or want to explore!
Pathology is often an overlooked speciality, labelled as lab-intense and socially isolating. But I aim to debunk these myths, showcasing its diversity! As Pathology Chair, my main plans are:
-
Close the knowledge gap
With minimal exposure to pathology in UCLMS, little is known about it as an “umbrella speciality”. Through organising hospital shadowing, research and networking opportunities, I aim to promote and guide you through pathology, getting your questions answered!
-
Strengthen partnerships, allowing us to learn from each other and widen our opportunities. Ideas include:
- Teaching series; MedSoc Education x Pathology
- Conferences; UCL Pathology x MedSoc Pathology
- Fundraising for various charities, e.g. Beacon
- Explore and promote the fun of pathology, through organising various trips, workshops, and a journal club!
-
Continue and grow
MedSoc Pathology has offered wonderful events over the years, such as the “Careers in pathology webinar”. I aim to continue them and ensure they remain long-term, introducing them to the MedSoc Annual Calendar.
Having myriad roles, including RUMS Welfare VP, AcaMedics Co-ordinator, and Y1 academic rep, I am great at collaborating, organising and getting the job done. As Pathology Chair, I will support, listen and advocate for you, standing by my motto “No troll left behind”.
