Election post
The best mathematics events are the ones that make you see the subject differently. As Events Officer, I want to create those moments for Mathematics Society members.
I regularly attend the London Mathematical Finance seminar series across UCL, LSE, and Imperial, and have been independently pursuing research on numerical methods for the Black-Scholes PDE alongside my Economics degree. I understand what makes a mathematical talk genuinely engaging because I actively seek that kind of intellectual exposure myself.
As Events Officer I would focus on bringing in speakers from both academia and industry, organising problem-solving competitions, and creating events that bridge pure mathematics with real-world applications in finance, computing, and beyond.
My relevant background:
- Regular attendee of the London Mathematical Finance seminar series
- Independent research on finite difference methods for the BSM PDE
- Placed 1st at UCL and 13th worldwide in Jane Street's Estimathon
- Active academic relationships with faculty at UCL, Warwick, and Manchester
