Election post
Hi I am Ashley, a 2nd year Nutrition and Medical Sciences student, and I am running for president of the Lifestyle Medicine society.
As a nutrition student, I have developed a strong interest in health and wellness. I have experienced how lifestyle changes can positively influence my mood and confidence, and they motivate me to raise awareness of the benefits of wellness habits across UCL community. For this reason, I am excited to run for President of Lifestyle Medicine Society.
I have gained teamwork experience as a committee member of the Musical Theatre Society. It strengthened my communication skills and taught me how planning is essential for maintaining an engaged society. In addition, during sixth form I served as the Managing Director of a student company. I learned the importance of listening to advice and delegating responsibilities, which I believe will allow me to work closely with the committee to create an organised society.
If elected, I would aim to organise a range of events such as:
- Park runs / walks
- Outdoor picnics
- Yoga/meditation sessions
I aim to keep many of these events low-cost or free so that they remain accessible. I am also keen to explore opportunities for educational events, such as talks or workshops related to nutrition, mental wellbeing etc.
Overall, my goal as president would be to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where students can learn about lifestyle medicine, build healthy habits together, and connect with a positive community.
