Election post
If elected as Media Representative for the LGBTQ+ Network, I would work to strengthen the visibility and impact of the network within UCL student body. My goal would be to ensure that the network's events and campaigns are communicated effectively both within UCL LGBTQ student body. I would focus on highlighting LGBTQ+ network events that foster community within the LGBTQ+ student body and promoting initiatives that advance inclusion, allyship, and understanding. I would aim to ensure that messaging is consistent, thoughtful, and reflective of the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community
I have been an active member of the UCL LGBTQ+ Network for the past two years and regularly attend its events. This has given me insight into how the network successfully promotes its goals through media and where communication can be improved. I would bring this perspective to help strengthen engagement and visibility. I also have committee experience as Welfare Officer for both the World History Society and the SELCS Society, where I developed strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
Students should vote for me because I am a reliably engaged and hardworking member of the LGBTQ+ Network who understands its community and goals. Over the past two years, I have participated in events and wish to better the network by fostering strong communication to its members. With my experience, I wish to foster teamwork, organization, and a connection within the LGBTQ+ network. I will work to ensure the network’s events, voices, and initiatives are clearly promoted and reach as many students as effectively as possible.
In 200 years, I think UCL will continue to be a global leader in research and education, but hopefully learning will be far more technologically advanced and have a well connected student body. I also hope UCL will change more towards pushing positive progress towards global challenges such as current positioning and responses to its student body expressing their voices towards political issues such as the situation in Gaza as well as keeping the academic environment positive and safe for the student body, while staying true to its founding values of openness, inclusion, and academic freedom.
