Jihoon Choi

Hello, I am Jihoon Choi, a first-year Media BA student at UCL. I have been working as an Intermediate Korean class tutor during the 2025–2026 academic year.

Over the past few months as a tutor, I have had the opportunity to communicate directly with members and participate in various informal and official events. Through these experiences, I was able to better understand the strengths of our language exchange programme as well as the needs and interests of our members. Based on this experience, I am applying for the position of Language Officer because I would like to engage with an even wider range of members and help create a more structured and active language programme. Most importantly, my passion for teaching Korean and sharing Korean culture has grown even stronger, thanks to the many friends who love and appreciate Korean culture.

If elected, I will organise the topics that members want to learn (Korean grammar, vocabulary, Korean food, Korean history, etc) into structured modules. In addition, I will collect and share a variety of useful resources and materials to support both Korean language learning and a deeper understanding of Korean culture depending on the preferences of each members.

Building on my experience interacting closely with students as a tutor, I will strive to create a welcoming, family-like society environment where everyone feels comfortable and encouraged to participate.
