Zubaida Hassan

Hi Everyone!

My name is Zubaida, and I’m standing for Treasurer of the Institute of the Americas Soc because I genuinely care about this society and the community it creates. For me it’s not just about managing numbers but about helping make sure the society has the support and resources it needs to keep bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences.

I’m someone who is naturally organised and responsible and I take pride in paying attention to the small details. I know that the Treasurer’s role is about trust, transparency and making sure money is handled carefully so the society can keep running events and opportunities for everyone. If elected, I would make sure that the society’s finances are managed clearly and responsibly, while working closely with the rest of the committee to make the most of our budget.

I’d love to help make sure we can continue hosting events that bring our department closer together while also creating a welcoming space for members to learn, connect and enjoy being part of the society.

Overall, I want to contribute to the society in a meaningful way and help it continue to grow. Being Treasurer would allow me to support the committee, represent the members and help ensure the society can keep doing the things that make it such a great community to be part of.

Thank you.

Sophie Allsop

I am standing for UCL Institute of Americas Treasurer in this upcoming election as I am committed to ensuring our society has the financial foundation it needs to thrive. I am organised and enjoy working in a team which will help me execute the funding for various socials and events to make the society a community in which both academic excellence and social life can flourish. At school, I was charity representative, so I am well versed in financial management and strategy, to enable the greatest amount of people to get involved!

I want to manage the budget in a way that is sustainable and aligned with the society’s goals, whilst also making events as accessible for everyone as possible. As an engaged member within the society, having gone to many events, I understand that accessibility is a cornerstone in ensuring the maintenance of the community we have built in the institute. I am applying for this role to deepen my involvement within the institute and hopefully replicate my amazing experience within the society for others through effective financial management.
