Hi everyone! My name is Megan, and I am so excited to nominate myself for the position of Vice President in the UCL Indonesian Society.

As a first year, IndoSoc was one of the first places where I felt instantly welcomed and included. It quickly became my home away from home. This sense of comfort is something I want every member, especially new students, to experience.

Through my past leadership experiences, including leading my schools’ Student Council, I’ve learned how to turn ideas into action. Leading teams and coordinating initiatives taught me how to stay organized, communicate clearly and to be reliable. I follow through responsibilities, even when having a lot on my plate, which I believe is an essential skill when juggling between school and society responsibilities. I believe a good Vice President isn’t just someone with ideas, but someone who supports the team, makes sure things run smoothly behind the scenes, and is always willing to step up whenever needed.

If elected, I hope to build on the warmth that IndoSoc already has by creating more community-driven events like game nights and potluck picnics. I hope these events can bring different year groups together whether undergrad or postgrad, so Indosoc feels more like one big (slightly chaotic, but loving) family. Additionally, I hope to strengthen IndoSoc’s presence within UCL by better representing Indonesian culture on campus through cultural showcases or collaborations with other societies.
