Matthew Lee

Having served as the Second Year Representative on the society committee this year, this experience has strengthened my commitment to the society and inspired me to continue serving as President in the coming year. Over the past year, I have developed valuable organisational, communication, and leadership skills that have equipped me with the confidence to take on this role. I am eager to build on our current achievements and bring even greater opportunities to our members. As President of the Greenough Society, I aim to further engage students in Earth Sciences by creating inclusive and interactive experiences. I hope to organise engaging field trips and hikes that allow students to explore our planet and better understand the processes shaping our physical landscape — particularly encouraging participation from those who may not be studying Earth Sciences or related subjects. In addition, I would like to strengthen our community by providing more networking and social events for students who share an interest in Earth Sciences. By fostering stronger connections among members, we can create a supportive and inspiring environment for everyone. With the knowledge I have gained from my studies and the strong relationships I have built within our cohort, I am confident in my ability to lead the society effectively. I would be honoured to serve as your President and continue contributing to the growth and success of our community.
