Election post
The Treasurer position at the UCL Golf Club is centric to the smooth running of the society. I aim to modernise our financial approach and improve the accessibility of the club while keeping the tradition this Club is built on intact. Currently playing to a 19 handicap, I understand there is more to the game than just hitting balls. A major reason more people don’t play is because golf is an expensive sport, with 88% of golfers wishing the game was cheaper. This translates directly to university students; we shouldn’t have to choose between a round and our weekly budget.
As a BSc Economics student, I will apply the analytical rigor of my degree to our club’s accounts. I am prepared for the fiduciary responsibility of this role through four years of experience managing an ever-evolving tutoring business, and years of interest in how golf clubs balance diversified revenue streams. With this innate curiosity, I plan to move us towards an efficient, data-driven budget that ensures every penny of membership fees and student union grants is streamlined. This will translate to more range balls, more socials, and more rounds at prices that make sense. I aim to produce monthly fiscal reports available to all members, so you can see how we reinvest your fees into our community. By bridging the gap between professional management and our shared passion for the game, I hope to lead the Golf Club into its most accessible and successful season yet.
