Election post
Hello! I’m Aaditya, a second-year Biochemistry student with a keen interest in genetics.
As the current Head of Journal Club, I have organised monthly events featuring speakers from UCL, Imperial and the Crick, covering cutting-edge topics such as gene therapies, regenerative medicine, evolutionary biology, multi-omics and neurodegenerative disease. This year, I introduced PhD-led computational workshops (a first in GenSoc history!), providing hands-on experience with scRNA-seq and microscopy image analysis. I have also led lab visits and collaborated with other societies to broaden our reach.
If elected President, I would:
- Draw on my network to establish a structured PhD mentorship scheme
- Launch a new computational workshop series building practical skills, with certificates for attendees
- Increase lab visits, with subsidised travel outside London
- Strengthen our society's momentum through our academic talks, flagship conference and more, while supporting new initiatives
As a two-year member, I know GenSoc well and have worked closely with committee members across roles, ensuring a smooth transition. Beyond GenSoc, I serve as Lead Departmental Representative for Biochemistry, collaborating with students and staff to drive constructive change. I am proactive, a team player and committed to building an ambitious committee that delivers an enriching year for every member.
I would be honoured to have your support. Reach out to me at [email protected] if you have any questions!
